Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has rebuffed the claims that his rising star, defender Simon Kjaer, could leave the club after just one season.
The Danish player has a release clause in his contract set at €12 million that will be triggered if a foreign club decides to purchase him, however, Zamparini doubts that any side would really want to spend so much on a largely untested player.
“Kjaer will remain at Palermo,” affirmed the Sicilian side’s patron to stadionews.it.
“Despite the player having a release clause, I don’t think that he will be purchased by a big club because they would be spending a sum that is too high for a 20-year-old.”
Kjaer has so far played 15 games for Palermo this season following his move from Midtjylland in summer. His solid performances have attracted the attention of various wooers.
