Catania general manager Pietro Lo Monaco might not please his team's fans as he claimed that the derby match against Palermo is not an important one for him, according to Datasport.it.
The Rossazzurri will battle their Rosanero rivals for the Sicilian crown on Sunday, but Lo Monaco’s interest lies solely in the three points at stake.
“The derby is just a match like all the other games,” explained the Etnei director. “Whoever goes on the pitch must only think about playing for the three points.
“We are playing against a strong team who are doing very well lately and who are expressing the best football under [Palermo president, Maurizio] Zamparini’s management.
“At home Palermo are a steam roller; they have always won or lost, whereas we have not won away from home since a long time.
“Catania have nothing to envy about Palermo, our squad can be considered on the same level of the Rosanero, the only difference consists in the pitch factor.”
Catania are currently in 13th place with 30 points from 25 games, just eight points above the relegation zone.
