Uruguayan midfield dynamo Walter Gargano is a major doubt for Napoli's crucial away test against Juventus on Saturday night.
The 24-year-old sustained a left foot strain during last Sunday’s dismal home defeat to Genoa which further compounded the Partenopei’s current crisis.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, Gargano will visit specialist Pier Paolo Mariani at Villa Stuart in Rome today, but there are slim hopes for him to make the squad for the clash with the Old Lady.
The diminutive playmaker has featured more than any other Azzurri player so far this term, amassing over 2000 minutes of playing time in Serie A.
Meanwhile, coach Edy Reja is scratching his head in the hopes of finding a remedy for Napoli’s troubles.
It has been suggested that the starting line up on Saturday night will see holding midfielder Michele Pazienza step in to partner Manuele Blasi and create some sort of barrier in front of the defensive line.
New boy Jesus Datolo will cover the left flank and Slovak starlet Marek Hamsik could act as a trequartista behind the strikers.
