Tiago Mendes joined Juventus from Olympique Lyonnais in the summer of 2007 for a fee in the region of €13 million.
The ex-Chelsea man had a dismal first season in the peninsula and he even threatened to leave the club and return to his homeland last November if he was not given more of an opportunity in the first-team.
However, the situation has since improved and the ex-Chelsea man had regularly earned a starting shirt until he suffered a knee injury that kept him sidelined for over a month.
He has now returned to action and featured from the start of Juve’s 1-0 loss to Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
And, according to Tuttomercatoweb, the trip to London gave the Corso Galileo Ferraris directors a chance to start negotiations over a contract renewal. The Juve bosses were reportedly spotted having lunch with Tiago’s agent Jorge Mendes.
The Portuguese international’s current deal will run out in 2012.
