Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani is finally set to sign a new deal at the club after a year of negotiations which have delayed a decision on his future.
The Giallorossi and their star man have seemingly come to an agreement, and a new contract will see terms extended until 2013.
Il Corriere Dello Sport claims an appointment between club and player has been jotted down in the diary for next week and Aquilani will sign a renewed contract.
The player has been plagued with injuries of late, but he will be cheering about the latest developments as he is in line for better economic terms.
The Italian international missed the Arsenal defeat in London on Tuesday night with an ankle problem, but he could be back in action against Inter on Sunday. I Lupi are chasing fourth place in Serie A and three points against the Nerazzurri are vital in order to keep in touch with the leading pack.
Roma have been trying hard to ensure Aquilani stays. The club refused mega offers from Inter and the Gunners last summer in a sign of faith towards their man.
Coach Luciano Spalletti will be hoping to have the talismanic midfielder back for the weekend. The latest reports from Sky Sport Italia suggest Aquilani trained lightly at Trigoria this morning.
