Steve Bruce's ability to build a formidable outfit while maintaining a level of financial responsibility can only be commended, but the departure of Wilson Palacios has been cited as a potential thorn in the club's paw as they aim to push on from their current seventh-placed Premier League standing.
In order to keep their momentum going, Michael Brown believes the club should not be fearful of any side, and has even targeted a result at Stamford Bridge this weekend, when the Latics take on Chelsea on Saturday.
Brown told the Evening Post, "I'm not being negative saying that - a point there would be an excellent result and take us closer to where we want to be.
"We've been up in seventh place for quite a while now and with the points buffer we built up a couple of months ago, that was always going to be the case."
He continued, "It's a fantastic achievement for this club to be where we are in the table, and it would be great if we could finish the season in the top area. I don't see why we can't manage that.
"After Chelsea we've got West Ham, Sunderland and Hull coming up, all teams who are quite close to us," he concluded.
Chelsea have often lambasted teams who travel to their west London home only to "park the team bus in front of goal." The news that Wigan may be aiming for a 0-0 draw may not be well received by Hiddink, Terry, and co.
