After 13 glorious years spent in Serie A, Juventus midfielder Pavel Nedved looks set to finally quit football after he reportedly turned down the offer of a pay-as-you-play deal from the Old Lady.
Therefore, the Juve directors will now have to find a worthy replacement during the close season. Virgilio.it reports that director of sport Alessio Secco has targeted Serbian international Bosko Jankovic.
The 25-year-old is owned by Sicilian outfit Palermo, however, he was loaned out to Genoa last summer as he failed to impress at the Stadio Barbera last term.
Jankovic has a contract with the Rosanero until 2012 but the Genoani have an option to sign him in a co-ownership deal for a fee of €3.5 million at the end of the season.
After an equally troubled start to life in Liguria, the Serb has finally started to live up to his reputation in recent weeks and netted the winner against Napoli last weekend to keep the Rossoblu within striking distance of a Champions League spot.
Juve have excellent relationships with both Palermo and Genoa. It has been suggested that defender Domenico Criscito could be included in a part-exchange deal for Jankovic; the defender, who is playing with Genoa at present, is still owned by the Bianconeri.
