Notes:
06-September-2008
- Javier Mascherano will
miss Argentina's trip to Peru due to suspension having picked up
another yellow card. Carlos Tevez will also miss the trip having
received a straight red card. I don't know whether that means they stay
over there for team morale or whether they come straight home.
- Robbie Keane played
the full ninety minutes of the Republic of Ireland's away trip to
Georgia. He played relatively well and also was unlucky not to score
when he hit the post from a tight angle having rounded the goalkeeper.
He did however play a role in Ireland's opener.
- While on international duty, Sami Hyypia made it clear he was unhappy having been dropped from Liverpool's Champions League registered squad.
- Benayoun scored for Israel against Switzerland in a 2-2 draw in the World Cup qualifying group 2.
- No Liverpool player starting for Spain tonight against Bosnia-Herzegovina, but Reina and Alonso are on the bench.
- Both Ryan Babel and Dirk Kuyt played minutes in the Netherlands friendly loss to Australia. Incidentally, Kewell scored a penalty in that game.
- Martin Skrtel scored for Slovakia today in their 2-1 win over Northern Ireland.
